Anxiety and depression affect up to 29% of cancer survivors. The multiple stressors, vulnerabilities and challenges they face have been highlighted as contributing to cancer survivors’ high risk.
Whilst available evidence in this field is of variable quality, difficult to interpret, and has not yet produced definitive results, it is becoming clear that weight management and healthy food choices has a role in improving overall health and promoting disease-free and overall cancer survival.
There is clear evidence that alcohol is a cause of many types of cancer. There is limited research into the effects of alcohol on cancer progression and recurrence. Cancer survivors should generally follow recommendations for the general population to reduce the harmful impacts of alcohol consumption.
